Gardens of Babylon - glass and gemstone embroidery collar necklace with fine details in royal color palette; made with premium Austrian crystals, Chrysocolla stone, watermelon tourmaline, natural rubies, ruby dyed agate, and glass seed beads.
Persian architecture inspired floral motifs, stylized scarab (found in Babylon through the Egyptian route), royal blue and aqua colors indicating water ponds, foam green and emerald green backsplash colors, all complimented with ruby red and Siam red to resemble juicy fruits growing in the gardens.
The necklace closes with a lobster claw clasp; strung faceted natural rubies and micro faceted ruby dyed agate beads make up the chain. It is lined with soft emerald green suede leather which feels very gentle on the neck.

Background story: Inspired by the seventh wonder, the mythological Hanging Gardens of Babylon, about which historians can’t agree who had them built and where, I took my own clues from the Babylonian astrologer and priest Berosos as well as Hebrew historian Josephus to create an abstract vision suited for the contemporary queen.
According to their stories, the king Nebuchadnezzar had built the gardens to resemble Eden, for his queen from Media, who suffered home sickness and missed lush mountains of her home kingdom.
In my artistic interpretation I also included stories told by my Persian friends in Germany, who also missed their home country and often described its natural beauty, the fruit orchards of their parents’ homes and lively cities bearing witness to ancient as well as modern Persian culture.
